As you arrive to Startup Weekend Indianapolis…

December 5th, 2008 by Lou · No Comments

Use your preferred mapping technology (Mapquest, Navigator) to chart your course to the school’s address - reference the Location tab above.  Once you arrive on campus you will need to park in the surface parking lot across from the Engineering and Technology Building.  Here is a detailed map to assist you as you arrive http://snurl.com/indystartupmap

You can also refer to the IUPUI parking map.  For Friday, park in Lot 71 across from the ET building.  http://snurl.com/78741

After you park, enter the main floor of the E&T building - look for the Startup Weekend signs on the door.  Once you check-in, we will have weekend parking passes waiting for you to put on your car’s rearview mirror.  Guides will then direct you to where we’ll be for the weekend.  If you are arriving late and we have already started, we will be in the auditorium of the LD building, room number LD010.  You can contact me (Lou) at 317-332-9986 or Dr. Thomas Ho at 317-274-6799 if you find yourself lost.

Agenda for the Weekend

December 5th, 2008 by Lou · No Comments

Below is a framework agenda for the weekend.  Keep in mind that 1 hour in Startup Weekend is equivalent to 1 week in the real world.  We hope to accomplish in 1 weekend what it takes most startups 1 year to do.  We will have quick status meetings (for 5 minutes) every 2-3 hours to report on progress and resolve issues.  Most meals are included in your cost for the event, with the exception of Saturday dinner where you are on your own to choose.  See (parentheses) for type of meal provided.

Friday
5pm - Registration (pizza), Opening Remarks, Door Prizes
6pm - Elevator Pitches, Voting
8pm - Form teams, charter projects
10pm - Break for the night

Saturday
9am - Re-convene (donuts, coffee)
12pm - Lunch (subs/wraps)
7/8pm - Dinner off campus (on your own)
10pm - Break for the night

Sunday
9am - Re-convene (donuts, coffee)
12pm - Lunch (subs/wraps)
5pm - Final Presentations (pizza)
8/9pm - Conclude the weekend

A facilitator from Startup Weekend will be present to answer questions, provide guidance, and lead discussions as needed.

Help Me Out - Promote Indy Startup Weekend - Earn a Reward

November 21st, 2008 by Lou · 1 Comment

We are now officially 2 weeks out from Startup Weekend Indianapolis. In coordinating all of the other aspects of planning the event, I have failed to promote it as well as I could have. So … I need to your help with the promotion of the event. Here is what you can do:

1. Connect me with someone at a major newspaper, radio or TV news station. If they agree to carry a story or publicize the event based on your recommendation, you will get a free event ticket.

2. Connect me with a local company who would like to be an event sponsor. If they agree to sponsor the event at a level of $500 or more based on your referral you will get a free event ticket.

3. Refer 4 people to sign up for the event and you will get a free event ticket. For those of you thinking of signing up in groups, think of it as buy 4, get the 5th free. Just send me their names upon sign up.

Event postponed until December 5-7th

September 8th, 2008 by Noah · No Comments

Indianapolis Startup Weekend was scheduled for this upcoming weekend. We have decided to move it back to December 5th - 7th, 2008. This will give us more time to do a better job of advertising the event and getting everything in order. While we apologize for the change, it will end up making the event much better for everyone!

An email has been sent out to everyone who has already registered explaning the change. If you have already registered and cannot make the new date, you will be given a full refund.

Along with our new date, we will be needing help from you in a few areas:

  • Getting the word out
  • Day-of volunteers
  • Aquiring food / food sponsors for all three days
  • Aquiring sponsors
  • General logistics/planning assistance

If you are interested in helping out with any of these areas, please email noah (at) indystartup (dot) com.

September 2nd, 2008 by Noah · No Comments

Thanks to IUPUI for providing Indianapolis Startup Weekend with free parking passes for all of our attendees. Anyone who has attended an event at IUPUI before knows that this is not always easy to get. Thanks again to IUPUI and the Purdue School of Engineering & Technology for helping make this happen!

Getting the Word Out

August 26th, 2008 by admin · 6 Comments

We are now roughly 3 weeks away from the beginning of Startup Weekend! Given that there is little time left we wanted to put out a call for Sponsors interested in being a part of this local event to get in touch with the Local Organizer or Clayton from Startup Weekend. Most planning will be complete in the week or so and in order to ensure that you get a place in the event we need to begin finalizing some things now.

As for everyone else, please keep spreading the word and generating buzz about this event.  I know Indianapolis can be a success and let’s make it happen!

Thanks,
The Startup Weekend Team
